Creating Positive Change Through Incantations

ree

I first came across the word 'Incantation' through an online workshop conducted by Tony Robbins. It was powerful and exhilarating. I enjoyed the idea and the process so much that I made sure that it was part of my morning ritual. And today, I give a lot of credit to this process that I practice.

So, what exactly is incantation? Is it some sort of a mantra? How is it different from affirmations?

Well, an incantation can seem like a mantra, but it's more like an affirmation.

"Mantras are sounds that carry a vibration to get you in harmony with the universe. Affirmations are positive statements to help you reprogram your mind. Both of them can help you improve yourself, accept yourself, and achieve your goals."

In incantations, however, we bring in our body and our voice tonality into the practice.

When you practice affirmations, you're probably just saying something like "I am love. I am effortless. I am great. I am enough.", over and over again.

In incantations, we could say those things repeatedly, but we add in some excitement and power in our voice. We also move our body while doing that. Don't lie down, or slouch on a chair. Stand up tall - preferably a power pose - and repeat your incantations like it already is happening to you and you can't control your joy or your excitement.

A good time to practice incantations is in the morning, when you go for a walk or a light jog. Your brain releases endorphins when you walk/run/exercise and that changes the biochemistry in your system.

Let me take a quick de-tour & throw some light on 'endorphins'.

Endorphins help us push our bodies beyond their comfort levels and persist when we might otherwise want to give up. Once you eliminate pain from the equation, endorphins can give you a feeling of being "high" (from the popular phrase "runner's high"), or just a nice relaxed feeling. Endorphins are the reason why exercise is often suggested to eliminate stress.

Coming back to incantations. If you engage your body in ways where you brain releases endorphins, and you club it with repeating powerful statements in an excited/joyful/powerful voice, you would soon realise just how powerful incantations can be over affirmations.

Affirmations do not work for some people, especially if they do not engage their body or trigger changes in their biochemistry.

Some examples of incantations (from Tony Robbins):

  • Every day and in every way, I'm getting stronger and stronger.

  • At last, at last, the past is past; I've broken free and won. And now it's time to love myself and really have some fun.

  • All I need is within me now.

  • I love my life and I am so blessed.

  • I'm so happy, and I can't stop smiling.

  • Day by day I live my life with happiness and harmony. I share my gifts, my dreams, my heart and love has set me free.

Get moving. Create a sense of excitement - after all, you are saying powerful statements. Practice incantations. And watch your life blossom into something wonderful.
