Leadership and Gestalt

One of the biggest challenges people face is the internal battle they have when it comes to making decisions, or to forgive someone, or to forgive self, or just breakthrough limiting beliefs in order to move to the next step in their self-growth journey.


It isn’t easy when we have that inner voice constantly bashing us up and telling us what to do and what not to do.

Sometimes, it can get all the more useless, when it’s just beating us up for doing or not doing something. And sometimes, it tells us that life is beautiful, even though everything is falling apart around us.


As a Gestalt Practitioner, my job is to help my clients find a meaningful integration to the various parts they have within themselves. I help create a space where my clients can explore conversations, ideas, possibilities, forgiveness, healing or even resolve from certain traumatic memories they still hold within themselves.


Do I offer therapy? No, I do not!


But what I do offer, is a space to be, a space to reflect, a space to engineer and reengineer self, a space to strategise, a space to plan, a space where ‘it’s all allowed.’

A traditional therapist or a Counselling Psychologist has their own way of working when it comes to using Gestalt in a therapy session. As a Coach, I see it more as a power tool to liberate the idea of who we should be (and also the idea of who we think we are), so that we can grow within our space, mind and body, before we assume that ‘we are dealt a bad hand and real growth is outside our reach.’


Gestalt is an experience that helps the soul find it’s space to heal and let go. And through that, guide the person to find their purpose, their potential, and that push that makes the ego surrender, so that one can start living a life of true meaning and purpose.


Gestalt is also literature, carved in words, moments, silence, breath, presence, curiosity and just being. It is wisdom that allows the process of ‘flow’ to begin.


Gestalt is a complete whole, where one can be one, and cease to be multiple parts of one.

Before someone begins their journey as a leader, it is important to heal self, it is important to be able to forgive, it is important to be in sync within self.


Through Gestalt, we are able to create a bridge for multiple parts of us to interact with each other so that we can strive to be whole, operating as one unit, which can in-turn create a powerful leader leading his/her life with meaning, purpose and alignment.


You might even be in a position where you got promoted to a leadership role, you were given process training, and you were expected to ‘figure out’ leadership by yourself. And in the process of creating shabby success as a leader, you may have burnt more than just your fingers, and sometimes that damage is irreparable, especially if it has translated into generalised negative thoughts and beliefs about yourself, your organisation, people in general, or even the idea of leadership. The symptoms of being a toxic leader usually start showing from this point onwards.


You can’t undo what’s done. But it’s never too late for you to allow the process of healing and integrating your ‘true self’, so that you are able to do and be the way you want to.
